A Guide to Frieze NYC

May 9, 2017

So this weekend was the annual Frieze Art Fair on Randalls’s Island , NYC. I always wanted to go to this cool international contemporary art fair since… well, forever. And I finally made it! The fair is organized by the publishers of Frieze magazine and this year ran from May 5th to the 7th, featuring contemporary and modern art from galleries all over the world: London, New York, Seoul, Mumbai, Paris, Cape Town, Tokyo and many more. I felt like a kid in a candy store walking around in a massive space full of contemporary art. It’s also the perfect place for people watching, yes the fair goers are pretty interesting as well. There were also a few salad and juice bars, cafes and wine bars if you needed to catch a break.

Getting to Randall’s Island from Manhattan can be a bit tricky. Luckily the Fair organizes coach buses to and from the fairgrounds. BMW , the official sponsor, also had a VIP car service for your convenience. You can also take the 6 train up to 125th street and catch the M35 city bus which will take you directly to the Fair. There are also ferries along the East River running between Randall’s Island and midtown Manhattan. We found these to be a bit easier and faster than the buses and of course very scenic.

I really had a great time at the Frieze Art Fair viewing the work of contemporary and modern artists from across the globe, all under one roof. Please enjoy the pictures of some of my favourite pieces from the Fair!
