The Met Gala is one of the most exclusive events in NYC. Its’ goal is to raise funds for the Costume Institute, a department of the Metropolitan Museum or Art (The Met). Tickets for the event, chaired by Anna Wintour, can cost upwards of $30,000USD and are sold solely to A-listers. The annual event usually takes place on the first Monday of May and has a different theme each year. This year’s theme was around ‘ The Art of In-Between// Comme des Garcons ‘ , a Japanese fashion label founded by Rei Kawakubo
If you are not an A-lister and never made it to Anna Wintour’s guest list you still have a chance to experience the Met Gala theme exhibit. This year’s Comme des Garcons by Rei Kawakubo is on display at the Met until September 4th. Tickets for the museum entrance will also admit you to the exhibition and are available at the entrance for a suggested donation amount.
Grab a friend, grab your camera and head over to the Met to enjoy this beautiful Art of the in-between. And if you can’t make it well, I got you …below are photos of some of my favourite pieces from the Exhibit now on view at the Met.
xoxo,
