So this Monday August 28th, 2017 was the opening day for the US Open, and I was able to catch the opening day game with two good friends of mine. The match was between Maria Sharapova (RUSSIA) and Simona Halep (ROMANIA). It was my first time ever watching a game live and all my childhood memories came rushing back. Tennis and football (soccer) are very dear to my heart because I grew up watching tennis championships and soccer games with my dad. Because of the time difference we would stay up until midnight to watch them. For the tennis especially I always wished one day I would watch them live at the stadium, and well look at me now 🙂 .
Transport to/from the game is very easy. You can catch the 7 train from midtown manhattan and go straight to the stadium at Flushing, Queens NY. If you are a JP MORGAN CHASE customer you can pre-register online to have complimentary access to their lounge, which is pretty cool and makes a nice difference with the free drinks and snacks. There is also the Emirates lounge but I didn’t have access to it 🙁
There are a lot of food vendors as well as sports apparel and souvenir shops like NIKE, ADIDAS, RALPH LAUREN and a lot more, all there – just pick your poison.
I was so happy watching the US Open live at ARTHUR ASHE stadium and really wished my dad was there with me but felt very grateful for fulfilling my childhood wish.
XOXO,
